BlockSite is a browser extension and app for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Android mobile devices. So if you find yourself spending too much time on social media sites, BlockSite can help you increase productivity, focus and prevent procrastination.

After you download the extension, set up a list of websites you want to block. You can also set up a schedule of time frames for when to block distracting sites.

Unfortunately BlockSite has no control over this. The accessibility feature turns itself off automatically on some Android devices. This is a known bug in the Android operating system that BlockSite cannot control.

However, on most devices, you can disable app optimization for BlockSite in Settings to stop it from disabling accessibility. This is usually found in Settings > Battery.

Here are some more possible solutions… please give them a try!

For devices with Android 6.0 and higher, go to Settings -> Battery, click the menu icon in the top-right corner (3 vertical dots), and select “Battery Optimization”. Then select “All Apps” from the drop-down list, select BlockSite, and choose “Don’t Optimize”.

For Samsung Galaxy devices (SG 5 and later), check to see if you have App Battery Optimizer in Samsung Smart Manager app enabled. Please disable this as it is known to disable BlockSite’s Accessibility Service. You’ll want to go to Android Settings > General > Battery, and look under App Optimization and select Details. Then find BlockSite and turn it off.

For Huawei phones, go to Settings > Apps > Advanced Options > Ignore Optimizations and toggle “allow” for BlockSite.

For other devices, it is possible that you might have a task manager that automatically closes applications periodically. If you do, please add BlockSite to the whitelist (apps that are excluded from being automatically closed) of the application.

You can sync your list of blocked websites between Android mobile devices and the Chrome extension on desktop.

To pair your phone with the extension, open the menu, then Settings, then “Sync BlockSite.” You will then be asked to go to the BlockSite desktop extension and scan the QR code. If you don’t have the extension you’ll need to download it from Google Chrome or Firefox. If you need any help setting up the sync, please email us at so we can help!

Work Mode allows you to work for 25 minutes and take a 5 minute break – great for anyone who struggles to keep focused for long periods of time!

Whitelist mode allows you to create a list of sites that are the only sites you can access while Blocksite is on.

Yes. You can add a password to your account (both on desktop and mobile) so that your BlockSite settings can only be changed by you. To enable this, please go to Password Protection.

Yes, BlockSite can send you an email to alert you when the desktop extension is uninstalled. To enable this, please go to Password Protection in the desktop extension Settings page.

The adult site blocking feature requires us access to information on the sites you visit in order to detect and block adult sites automatically. Please note that we do not share this data with any third parties for the purposes of marketing or targeting individual users.

The data we collect includes non-identifiable information which is gathered via your use of BlockSite. We do not know and cannot determine the identity of the user from which the information is collected. Yes. By deselecting the checkbox next to the words “Block Adult Sites” which can be found under the Settings tab of the Options page for the Block Site extension. For the mobile app: By selecting the checkbox next to the words “Opt Out” which can be found in the About screen of the application. Note that once you opt out, some of the Services provided by Block Site will no longer be available.

There are two things that may cause this:

1. The verification must be done from the same browser window. Please make sure to open your email and click the link from your computer and not from the mobile. Please make sure you are signed in as the correct chrome user if you have more than one user.

2. In the extension, under the settings menu verify that you have selected the correct option – for example to block sites select the “Require password to access blocked sites”.
